Getting to Inyoni Rocks Cabanas

There are three ways, excluding boats, to get to Inyoni Rocks Cabanas. The first way is to fly and hire a car, the second way is to drive and the third way is to travel by train for a change. The Shosholoza overnight train to Durban from Pretoria and Johannesburg is an often overlooked choice. Car hire is available at Durban station.

If you choose to fly to King Shaka International Airport then once you have arrived at the airport you could hire a car for the period of your stay at Inyoni Rocks Cabanas. 1. Get onto the N2 south highway (tollroad) straight from the airport.
2. Keep going south untill you get to Amanzimtoti (73 km)
3. Once past the Athlone Park off-ramp keep left
4. Take exit 141 for M47 going south toward Amanzimtoti/Moss Kolnik Drive/Kwamakhutha

5. Keep to the right on the off-ramp and follow the right-hand fork to the T-junction.
6. Turn right onto Kingsway.
7. Proceed along Kingsway to Inyoni Rocks Road.
8. At end of Inyoni Rocks Road (T-junction) turn right. 9. Inyoni Rocks Cabanas will be 50m further on the left.

If you decide to drive then you will probably have several routes you could take. We will cover the most direct route from Pretoria/Johannesburg and also the route from Upington through Bloemfontein. For those living in other areas, finding your route should be easy through google maps.

Some useful things to remember before you drive.

Stay hydrated, dehydration can cause headaches which will impair your driving. If you are travelling with children have a few few games that they can play in the car. Dress appropriately for the weather you could be travelling through. Anticipate the actions of vehicles around you, certain stretches of the road will be new territory for everyone on it. Watch out for potholes, the last thing you want is to be late because of a blown tyre.
